SHEQAIQ: Two children died when a fire tore through their bedroom in Al-Sheqaiq, southwest of the country, after their parents left them home alone for their night shift at the local health center. The tragedy took place after the parents, Dr. Muhammad Saad Al-Baz, and Dr. Manal, left their 3-year-old son and five-year-old daughter behind and took their oldest son, 7-year-old Abdullah, with them, according to officials. Instead of going to bed, the two played with a lighter which started the fire in their bedroom, according to the Civil Defense investigation. The bedroom was gutted in the fire. As the fire engulfed the room, the flames spread too quickly and the two kids died of smoke inhalation, the medical report said. When the Civil Defense team arrived to the scene, they rushed the two Egyptian children to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead, officials said. Their father said after being moved to the night shift, he and his wife used to leave the children at home and pointed out that what happened was a fate decreed by Almighty Allah, which is inescapable.
