DAMMAM: The Ministry of Education has introduced a number of measures to curb absenteeism of employees at night education schools. The measures are aimed at principals, teachers, laboratory teachers, administrators and laborers at night schools. The ministry also wants to avoid assigning workers and officials to night duty, if all their activities can take place during working hours. The activities include courses, tests and committee work. Officials and workers will be excused from duty in emergencies but will lose a day's pay. If a principal wants to be excused he has to get permission from the ministry's Educational Supervision department – also with the day's pay deducted. The ministry has stressed that an employee should not leave the school before the end of the school day, no matter how many classes he is scheduled to teach. Deductions will be applied in all cases.
