Fresh from a two-week rest, the second seeded Beermen overwhelmed the seventh seed Air21 Express, 97-75, while the top seeded Texters demolished the eighth seeded Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 107-92. San Miguel will meet the winner of the Alaska versus Ginebra quarterfinals series while Talk N Text will go up against the winner of the B-Meg Derby Ace versus Meralco series in a best-of-seven semis series. Alaska and Derby Ace won their opening matches last Friday and need to repeat Wednesday to join the two top seeds in the Final Four. The Beermen appeared drowsy in the opening quarter, allowing the Express to fight on even terms. The two teams battled to three deadlocks and six lead changes in the opening quarter before the Beermen fully woke up and asserted their might. Jay Washington topscored for San Miguel with 19 points while Arwind Santos and Alex Cabagnot both had double-double games. Santos scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Cabagnot had 14 points and 10 assists. Dondon Hotiveros chipped in 14 points. The Beermen played an excellent defensive game, limiting the Express to their lowest output in the conference. The Express put up a semblance of a fight in the fourth quarter.
