JEDDAH: King Abdulaziz University will soon launch an Arabic language institute for people willing to learn the language, said Dr. Muhammad Sa'eed Al-Ghamdi, acting dean of the proposed institute and dean of the faculty of Arts and Humanities. In an interview with Al-Madina Arabic daily, Dr. Al-Ghamdi said the institute will specialize in teaching Arabic to students including those who are on scholarship within the Kingdom and abroad, university professors, members of the diplomatic corps and communities in the Kingdom. He pointed out that the institute, which will teach male and female students, will also provide direct qualifications for students to work as Arab-language teachers in their respective countries. Dr. Al-Ghamdi said the school's leaders realized that serving the Arabic language is an important goal because it forms the Ummah's identity, message and values. From this standpoint came the initiative to establish the Arabic language institute. He said the institute will also hold cultural seminars and specialist conferences. Dr. Al-Ghamdi said they are striving to have two sessions at the institute – a morning session from 8 A.M. to 12 P.M., and evening sessions from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M.
