LONDON: Former Tottenham and England midfielder Ralph Coates has died following a stroke. He was 64. Coates started his career with Burnley before joining Tottenham for 190,000 pounds ($296,000) in 1971. He helped Spurs win the UEFA Cup in his first season and played for the north London club for seven years before switching to Leyton Orient. He played four times for England but was best known for scoring the winning goal in Tottenham's 1-0 win over Norwich in the 1973 League Cup final.
