MONTREAL: The Montreal Canadiens won their first game in four by edging the Boston Bruins 4-3 in the NHL Thursday. Max Pacioretty had a goal and an assist and Scott Gomez also had two points for Montreal. Michael Cammalleri scored on a penalty shot 1:04 in while Maxim Lapierre and Brian Gionta also scored for the Canadiens, who remained alone in first place in the Northeast Division with 40 points. Boston's Marc Savard and Patrice Bergeron each had a goal and an assist. Blake Wheeler also scored. Rangers 4, Coyotes 3: In New York, rookie Derek Stepan scored the tying goal late in regulation and Erik Christensen netted the only goal in the shootout as New York rallied for victory over Phoenix. Martin Biron turned aside three attempts in the shootout to make Christensen's first-round tally stand up. Dan Girardi had a goal and assist, and Brandon Prust scored a short-handed goal for New York. Taylor Pyatt and Adrian Aucoin scored in the opening 6 minutes, and Martin Hanzal added a goal in the second period for the Coyotes. Sharks 4, Stars 3, OT: In Dallas, Logan Couture's power-play goal 1:20 into overtime gave San Jose a victory over Dallas. The rookie scored his 15th of the season on a shot from the high slot that got past screened goalie Kari Lehtonen. Devin Setoguchi, back after missing nine games with an upper-body injury, scored twice for the Sharks. Torrey Mitchell also had a goal. Brenden Morrow and Loui Eriksson scored power-play goals, and Tom Wandell scored at even strength for the Stars. Hurricanes 3, Thrashers 2, SO: In Atlanta, Cam Ward stopped 45 shots and Carolina earned its second straight comeback win, beating Atlanta after a shootout. One night after Ward was pulled after giving up three early goals before Carolina's comeback win at Florida, the Hurricanes again played from behind after trailing 2-0 after two periods. This time, Ward remained in the net for the win as Brandon Sutter and Eric Staal scored third-period goals. Sergei Samsonov got the decisive shot in the third round of a shootout. Evander Kane and Anthony Stewart each had a goal and an assist in the second period for the Thrashers. Blues 6, Kings 4: In St. Louis, the hosts won their fourth straight against Los Angeles. Alex Steen scored the tiebreaking goal with 2:53 left. Steen scored for the fourth time in five games before David Backes sealed it with a power-play goal into an empty net with 59 seconds to go. The Blues rallied from a 2-1 deficit to take a 4-2 lead through goals by Vladimir Sobotka, Brad Winchester and Eric Brewer in the second period. Oilers 6, Blue Jackets 3: In Edmonton, Linus Omark scored his first career goal and added two assists to help Edmonton beat Columbus. Fellow rookie Jordan Eberle had a pair of goals, while Dustin Penner, Magnus Paajarvi and Sam Gagner also scored for the Oilers. Kristian Huselius scored all three goals for the Blue Jackets, who have lost six in a row. Senators 3, Wild 1: In St. Paul, Minnesota, Ottawa took advantage of a disallowed goal to beat Minnesota. Kyle Brodziak scored for the Wild and had another goal waved off because of too many men on the ice. The goal would have given Minnesota a 2-1 lead midway through the second period. Instead, Foligno scored 9 seconds later and the Wild never recovered. Daniel Alfredsson and Chris Kelly also netted for the Senators. Ottawa had been outscored 24-9 while dropping five of its past six road games. Flames 5, Maple Leafs 2: In Calgary, the hosts scored three times in 57 seconds to overwhelm Toronto. Olli Jokinen had a goal and two assists and Ales Kotalik scored his first goal of the season for the Flames. Alex Tanguay, Rene Bourque and Niklas Hagman also netted for Calgary, which won consecutive games for the first time since October. Nikolai Kulemin and Mikhail Grabovski scored for the Maple Leafs. Islanders 3, Ducks 2: In Uniondale, New York, the hosts beat Anaheim to win for only the second time in 22 games. P.A. Parenteau, Blake Comeau and Matt Moulson scored in a 99-second span for the Islanders. Joffrey Lupul and Jason Blake scored for the Ducks.
