JEDDAH: Jeddah Police have arrested 32 suspected criminals in a crackdown on various districts including Muhammadiya, Annaeem, Assabeel, Al-Khumra, Al-Balad, Mushrefah, Al-Aziziya, Al-Thaghar, Al-Jamea, Kilo 7, Kilo 6 and Bani Malek. First Lieutenant Nawaf Al-Bouq, acting spokesman of the Jeddah Police Department, said the arrests were for offenses including robbery, purse snatching, promoting liquor and drugs, fraud, sheltering illegal workers, illegal commercial activity, and violation of public morals. The police nabbed the suspects by setting up checkpoints at “unexpected” locations and times, including in the afternoon, late night and early morning, the spokesman said. In addition, 641 persons were arrested for violating labor and residency laws. Others were involved in other suspicious activities, he added.
