MADINA: The National Society of Human Rights (NSHR) has said that it has helped a schoolgirl who suffered physical abuse at the hands of her parents get her life back on track after acting as mediator with her mother and father. The girl, who reportedly suffered beatings and having her eyebrows pulled out by her father, came to the attention of the NSHR after her teachers noticed signs of abuse and an increasingly introverted attitude. One of her teachers approached the NSHR in Madina and a female representative from the organization met with the girl's mother. “We met with both parents and spoke to them about their behavior and how it was extremely wrong and inhumane,” said Muhammad Al-Oufi, the NSHR's regional supervisor. “The father understood very well and subsequently changed his ways, which led to his daughter's health improving and noticeable improvements in her performance at school.”
