MADINA: Madina Region's Emirate intervened Wednesday and said it will issue a final decision to settle a dispute between Madina Mayoralty and the Traffic Department over installation fees of Saher traffic cameras. The move came after the mayoralty decided to remove the cabins for Saher cameras from streets and roundabouts because it said agreed-upon fees had not been paid and that the Saher system is a government project operated by an investor. As such, according to the regulations, the investor has a binding responsibility to pay fees in return for using areas on and near streets and roundabouts, mayoralty officials have said. Operators of the Saher system tried to prevent mayoralty workers from removing and confiscating the cameras, but supervisors insisted on doing so, which increased the tension. Maintaining that the Saher system is not an investment project, Brig. Gen. Siraj Abdul Rahman Kamal, Director of Madina Region Traffic Department, confirmed that a permanent solution was on the way.
