ABHA: Asir Police denied a Haia's spokesman's report that a woman stabbed a member of the Hai'a and was found in “Khulwa,” illegal seclusion with an unrelated man. Police said in a statement issued Tuesday that the woman – who sources said had filed a case against a man for abusing her – was arrested Sunday at the front gate of Abha Mall because she was wanted in connection with a case. While she was being taken to the Women's Correction House in Asir, she insisted on bringing her 4-year-old daughter and had a heated discussion with the woman jailer who accompanied her, the statement said. The statement signed by Colonel Abdullah Al-Qarni, spokesman of Asir Police said security men intervened to control the situation and that a member of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the Hai'a, was at the scene. He categorically denied that the woman had stabbed the Hai'a member with a knife and concluded his statement saying, “The case was referred to the Investigation and Prosecution Bureau to investigate the matter.” A Hai'a spokesman in Asir had earlier confirmed that the member, who was following the case and went with her to the police station in west Abha, was stabbed there and stressed that the woman was caught in illegal seclusion. The spokesman, who has said the woman suffers from mental health problems and needs treatment, called for the man who exploited her to face severe punishment because he is an educator who is entrusted with bringing up the future generations. Eventually, the educator called upon her family to come and get her, the spokesman added. Okaz/Saudi Gazette confirmed that the woman had reported some time ago that a 35-year-old man had exploited her. She said in a report that the man has been telling her for more than two years that he wanted to marry her, but he raped her, took pictures of her during intimate times and threatened to post the photos on the Internet – which caused her to become depressed and frightened, according to sources. The man was held for 10 days, based on the woman's complaint, and later released, sources said.
