TAIF: The mother of a private school pupil in Taif has claimed that her son has been “assaulted and targeted” at school because she did not respond to complaints from a contracted teacher about her son's performance. She alleged the teacher sent her text messages about her son's performance, then started to call her at all hours claiming he wanted to discuss the situation with her. When she rejected his attempts and did not respond he started “targeting and beating” her child at school, she claimed. The mother said she reported the matter to the police. They took the boy's statement and then sent him to hospital where he was given five days of sick leave. She also claimed that her son was excluded from the school's transport service. She added that when she went to the principal to ask about the reasons for not including her son in the service, the principal allegedly verbally insulted her and asked her to leave. The mother wants an investigation into the alleged abuse of her son, the decision to exclude him from the transport service, and for the calls and messages she received on her mobile. Zuwaid Al-Zaydi, the school's supervisor, said an internal investigation committee was formed at the school and the teachers were questioned about the woman's allegations. The investigation has proven her claims are false, said Al-Zaydi. However, he added, the school is waiting for the results of an investigation launched by the Education Administration. He said the pupil's study will not be affected by the dispute and he is entitled to continue lessons. On the transport service, he said there are some problems that prevent pupils from being included and that is “the school's right”. He said he will personally review phone records at the school and if the mother's allegation is proven, then necessary action will be taken. He said teachers found guilty will be punished.
