MADINA: The Saudi husband of the female accused of kidnapping baby Anas and the woman's sister were released Sunday night after Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution investigators determined that their only involvement in the case was convincing the suspect to return Anas to his family, according to officials. The sister, a Pakistani who works as a dentist in a polyclinic in Madina, identified the baby through pictures published in newspapers and Internet blogs, officials said. The suspected kidnapper's younger brother, Muraad, said he accompanied his pregnant sister to the hospital on the 28th of Dhul Hijja, Dec. 5, but the woman, who was in the late stages of her pregnancy, had a miscarriage. She did not tell anyone, even her husband, about the miscarriage and when she left the hospital “she returned to us carrying a baby boy,” he said. “Everyone was overjoyed when they came home,” he said. “They named the child Muhammad.” The joy lasted until the following day, Muraad said, when his sister broke down and revealed the baby's true identity. The Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution is still holding the suspected kidnapper and another of her sisters, officials said.
