RIYADH: The Kingdom's production of desalinated water fell by 7.5 percent in the fiscal year 2009-2010, but six significant desalination projects are being carried out, according to a report released by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation. The decrease, from 1.103.4 billion cubic meters in the previous year to 1.022.2 billion cubic meters, was caused by a drop in production from desalination plants on the western coast, the report said. The Corporation said its major projects will produce a total of up to 63,000 cubic meters of desalinated water on a daily basis.
