UMLUJ/TABUK: Security patrols from Umluj Police arrested two Saudi youths early Wednesday after security guards noticed them trying to break into the outpatient clinics building at Al-Hawra General Hospital, authorities said. Dr. Ali Bin Maqboul Al-Orabi, Director General of Health Affairs in Tabuk region, praised the security guards, Muhammad Al-Mistawi and Musallam Shetayyan Al-Alwani, for being alert, foiling the burglary and monitoring and pursuing the youths. He confirmed that the burglary attempt did not damage equipment in the clinics. The youths smashed the external surveillance cameras so they would not be identified while they carried out their crime, according to authorities. The hospital's security guards noticed at 2:45 A.M. that surveillance cameras in the area were not functioning. Al-Mistawi and Al-Alwani rushed to the location and saw two youths trying to break into the building after they had broken through the northern gates. On seeing the guards, the youths ran away from the scene. One of the guards chased them while the other sent an urgent report to authorities, according to a source. A security patrol in the area quickly arrived at the hospital and officers joined the chase until the two youths entered a building in Al-Olayya District on King Faisal Road in eastern Umluj, the source said. One building resident took the initiative to catch one of the youths while he was trying to jump from the building's roof and handed him over to the security men, the source added. The second youth managed to escape to the roof of a neighboring shopping center, but the security men were able to track and arrest him, the source said. An Umluj Police source confirmed that the two alleged burglars are known to them and have been convicted of other previous crimes. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two youths intended to steal the contents of hospital's outpatient clinics, according to authorities who are completing procedures for referring them to the authorities concerned.
