BEIRUT: The Arab Thought Foundation is working in the interests of Muslims and Arabs by having dialogue with various cultures and followers of other religions, in line with the initiatives adopted and launched by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. These were the comments of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah, who is also the foundation's President, in a speech on the opening day of the 9th annual Conference of the Arab Thought Foundation “Thought-9”, in Beirut Wednesday. Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, opened the conference. Prince Khaled said the foundation believes in the wisdom of openness to cultures of the world, seeks to promote objective dialogue with them, and to build partnerships for the benefit of all people. He said the foundation is working for a peace “based on justice, equality and cooperation”. He said the conference will highlight the role Arab nations play in the progress of humankind. He said he expects Arab intellectuals and thinkers to come up with ways to contribute to the world. The opening ceremony was attended by Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese House of Representatives; Saad Al-Hariri, Lebanese Prime Minister; Prince Bandar Bin Khalid Al-Faisal; Prince Sultan Bin Khaled Al-Faisal; Ali Bin Saeed Awwadh Asiri, Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon; and a number of Lebanese ministers and officials.
