MADINA/ASIR: The General Presidency for Meteorology and the Environment (PME) has said that temperatures in some parts of the country are expected to approach freezing Wednesday, 13 days before the official start of winter. The PME said that the region of Hail would see temperatures fall to one degree Celsius, while Al-Jouf, Arar and Buraidah would witness drops to four degrees. A weather specialist at the PME said, however, that long-term forecasts suggested temperatures would not vary greatly from average annual figures, except on a few exceptional days which would experience sudden cold snaps. Education authorities in Asir, meanwhile, have allowed schools to cancel at their discretion “morning line-up” exercise routines due to temperatures which have fallen below four degrees in most parts of the region. “We would advise pupils to wrap up warm,” the Asir Education Administration said, warning: “This is only the beginning.”
