JEDDAH: A fire in a car parked outside a restaurant opposite the US consulate in Jeddah briefly caused a security alert Sunday morning. Police and fire fighters rushed to the scene shortly after 11 A.M, and once the blaze in the vehicle's engine was extinguished it was swiftly established that the incident was due to an electrical fault. The driver had reportedly left the car running while he went about some shopping in nearby stores, but on returning and entering the vehicle again suddenly found the engine had caught fire. He managed to exit the car safely.
