ARAR: A Bahraini man wanted for three years after he was found guilty of torturing his daughter was arrested Saturday when he showed up at the women's prison in Arar, where the girl's mother is serving a sentence for the same crime. The man had been sentenced to 20 months in prison, to be followed by deportation. The woman was sentenced to 13 years in prison and 900 lashes. The man's eight children live in Hafr Al-Baten and Arar, with the youngest living with his mother in prison. The grandfather is taking care of four children while three are living at the home of a relative of the father. The tortured child, Balqis, was received at the Military Hospital in Riyadh in July 2007 after acts of violence by her parents. The girl is still in a coma as a result of brain damage.
