RIYADH: The Court of Cassation has upheld the sentences of two men of Asian nationality given a total of 66 months in prison and 550 lashes of the whip for physically threatening and robbing a fellow national of a mobile telephone and SR338. Riyadh Police said Saturday that the victim had reported being forced into a car and driven to the Al-Batha District where he was threatened with a pair of scissors and robbed before his two aggressors made their getaway. Police managed to locate and arrest the pair and they were later convicted by the General Court in Riyadh, where one was given a four-year jail term and 400 lashes, and his partner one-and-a-half years' prison and 150 lashes. The two men have been transferred to prison authorities in Riyadh following the failure of their appeal at the Court of Cassation, whose verdict is final.
