Honeywell on Monday announced a contract to install and implement an integrated advanced planning and scheduling solution for Rabigh Refining & Petrochemicals Co.'s Petro Rabigh facility. The site is a refining and petrochemical complex that is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Japan's Sumitomo Chemical Company. Honeywell's solutions for Petro Rabigh will help improve plant profitability by enabling plant staff to work more effectively and make better decisions. These solutions will help enhance operations planning, operations scheduling, blending optimization and performance monitoring in order to improve reliability, efficiency and overall business performance of one of the world's largest integrated oil refining and petrochemical plants. The advanced planning and scheduling solutions for Petro Rabigh will include Honeywell's ASSAY2, which is used for managing crude assay data, including blending of crude oils and calculating properties of fractions; BLEND, which is used for multi-product, multi-period blend planning and event-based scheduling; Production Scheduler, which is used to identify optimal schedules for the complex, allowing schedulers to avoid spending lots of time trying to evaluate multiple scheduling scenarios; Refinery and Petrochemical Modeling System (RPMS), a GUI-based LP tool for site-wide planning with the ability to handle complex multi-facility and multi-period models; and Production Analyst, an advanced software application for automatic analysis of plans and backcast plans versus actual operation. “When running such a complex plant, planning and scheduling operations are vital because gaps in information can be costly,” said Larry Perkins, regional general manager of Honeywell Process Solutions Middle East. “Honeywell's advanced planning and scheduling solutions will provide Petro Rabigh a powerful, state-of-the-art, multi-faceted tool to promote the uninterrupted flow of information in order to deliver substantial bottom-line results.
