Ahmari's Toyota is parked in front of the Al-Darb governorate office in Jizan Friday. Al-Ahmari has presented a repair bill to the municipality claiming that his car was damaged because of potholes which the municipality has failed to repair. (Okaz photo) AL-DARB: Exasperated at the continual damage suffered by his car from potholes and bumps in the Al-Darb international road, Fahd Al-Ahmari decided to park his vehicle in front of the governorate's head office so the authorities could take a look for themselves. “The municipality has not done any road repairs and you can see the damage done to my Toyota Camry,” Al-Ahmari frowned. “Cracks and potholes have turned the main Al-Darb road into a car trap. My car only yesterday was nearly completely wrecked when I hit a huge hole.” With his patience finally run out after that latest incident, Al-Ahamri decided to present what remains of his car at the governorate's office along with a repair bill which he says he expects the municipality to pay. “It's their failure to fill in the potholes and patch up other road defects that led to this,” he said. “I intend to take the municipality to the Administrative Court in Abha as well.” While the municipality of Al-Darb declined to respond to inquiries, a source at the regional Traffic Department said that they had received a letter from the governorate concerning Al-Ahmari's complaints. “We will respond to the letter with a detailed report,” the source said, adding that the department itself had repeatedly voiced its concerns over the state of the road and sympathized with Al-Ahmari. “The man's car hit a deep hole and was quite severely damaged,” the source said.
