JEDDAH: Informed sources have said that 1,800 lawsuits have been registered at administrative courts across the Kingdom in the last six months. The sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the cases, brought by the General Prosecution Department at the Control and Investigation Bureau against both public and private sector employees, involved accusations of forgery, bribery, embezzlement, counterfeiting money, abuse of power, willful deception or misrepresentation, and illegally engaging in trade activities. The sources said that forgery constituted 30 percent of all cases, with the second most prevalent charge being bribery, followed by money counterfeiting and civil servants engaging in business practices illegally. The courts have already heard 40 percent of the cases, the sources said. “The Control and Investigation Bureau looks into all criminal and disciplinary cases referred to it and sends convicted persons on to administrative courts,” they said.
