Emir of Hail pledges to end land grants crisis

HAIL: Prince Saud Bin Abdul Mohsin, Emir of Hail Region, Wednesday vowed to end the land grants crisis in the region within three months.
He said Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, has donated 90 million square meters of land in this regard.
Addressing citizens, Prince Saud was unequivocal in his pledge.
“Question me after three months if I don't fulfill the promise related to the land grants project,” he told the citizens.
He blamed the mayoralty for not fulfilling its promise of distributing 14,000 plots. The Emir said the large donation of land will end the crisis stemming from the delay of distribution of 40,000 land grants.
The donation will eliminate the long waiting lists of applicants for the grants, he added.
Prince Saud said a high level committee will be formed to work out a plan defining the method of distributing the land to citizens who fulfill the conditions set for them.
The committee will include the Emir of Hail, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Minister of Social Affairs and the Secretary of the King Abdullah Developmental Housing Foundation for His Parents, he said.
The committee is likely to meet in the next two months to work out its plan, he added.
He made it clear that the survey of such a large area would take some time, especially because it is in the city's urban zone, where new roads and railway lines will be constructed.
Prince Saud also said the allocation has been made for the expansion of King Abdul Aziz Road, which was ordered by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He pointed out that the thoroughfare is a key artery that links the entire city.
Prince Saud also praised the Crown Prince for approving the selection of Hail as the headquarters for the King Faisal Air College, which he said was chosen because of its strategic location.
The decision will help the area's economy because the school will attract experts and highly paid staff who will inject money into the region's economy, he said.
Prince Saud extended his profound thanks to the Crown Prince for selecting Hail and for the great care he gives the Kingdom's region and its development and progress.
