JEDDAH: A plan to replace foreign teachers with Saudis at Holy Qur'an memorization societies will be presented to Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah, next Monday. Prince Khaled had instructed a committee to look into the plan to employ Saudis in these positions. Prince Khaled held a meeting at his office in Makkah on Monday with the members of the team, including Dr. Omar Naseef, Chairman of the Holy Qur'an Memorization Society in Makkah and Abdullah Al-Thaqafi, Director of Education in Makkah. He discussed the plan and the timetable for the replacement of foreign teachers. The plan has fixed a three-year timetable. Sheikh Khaled Bin Sulaiman Al-Amer, Chairman of the Holy Qur'an Memorization Society in Hail, said he fully supports Prince Khaled's plan to replace foreign teachers gradually. He said the society has drawn up a plan to train Saudi teachers at two institutes – one for men and one for women. Sheikh Sulaiman Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Rabi, Chairman of the Holy Qur'an Memorization Society in Qassim, said the teachers in the region are all Saudis. Dr. Hussein Al-Hrabi, Chairman of the Holy Qur'an Memorization Society in Jizan, said the society is making an effort to fully Saudize the jobs of the Holy Qur'an teachers. The society wants to learn from the experience in Makkah, he said. Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Hanafi, Chairman of the Holy Qur'an Memorization Society in Makkah, said the society wants to execute the decision in letter and spirit. Muhammad Bin Saeed Abu Rass, Director of Education in Taif, said there are about 2,000 citizens in Taif who have memorized the entire Holy Qur'an by heart. He also assured his administration's cooperation with the Holy Qur'an Memorization societies to provide well-trained teachers.
