Faisal, Emir of Makakh, issued directives Monday that authorities must develop a plan for replacing foreign instructors who teach Holy Qur'an memorization sessions with Saudi teachers within three years. Prince Khaled, who set up a three-year schedule to make the change, also ordered the creation of a fund to generate revenue for implementing the plan. He said the fund will be under the direct supervision of the emirate and the Charitable Society for the Memorization of the Holy Qur'an. Prince Khaled's comments came during a meeting he chaired in his Jeddah office with members of a committee whose formation he ordered to formulate a plan to localizing expatriates' jobs teaching the Holy Qur'an. The committee recommended that the replacements should be made gradually to ensure the continuity of the educational process. Present at the meeting were Prince Abdullah Bin Fahd, undersecretary at Makkah Emirate for Security Affairs; Dr. Abdullah Naseef, supervisor of the Charitable Society for the Memorization of the Holy Qur'an in Makkah; and other members of the committee.
