JIZAN: Jizan Prisons Administration released Sunday a new batch of prisoners who qualified for the royal pardon. This release included 75 people sentenced from six months to two years for drug and qat cases. Hussein Hubani, Director of Prisoners Affairs at Jizan Province's Emir's Office, and head of the Royal Pardon Committee in the region, said a total of 240 prisoners were released so far, as at Sunday. A total of 1,800 people are expected to be released. Colonel Muaddi Mansour Al-Buqami, Director of the General Prisons Department at the Jizan Emir's Office, said the committee, comprising members from the Emir's Office, Police and the Prisons Administration, is continuing release procedures, adding that a large number of non-Saudi prisoners will be released after their procedures are completed with the Passports Department.
