JEDDAH: Indian singer Toshi Sabri, who has undergone a spinal surgery after a near-fatal accident on the Pune-Nasik Highway, is currently under observation at a hospital in Nasik. One of the band members, Abdul Ateeq, died in the accident. Talking to Saudi Gazette over the phone, Fareed Siddiqui, a band member who also got injured in the accident, said that many people had gathered at the site of the accident and instead of helping they started looting the injured occupants of the car. “Toshi is out of danger but he is under 12-hour observation right now. His hips and legs have been injured a lot. They are broken. So the doctors say he will not be able to stand up for long hours for sometime even after he recuperates from the injuries,” a family member said. Toshi and his band members were returning to Mumbai after performing in Shirdi and its suburbs. “Toshi will probably have to undergo another hip surgery Monday, and then doctors will decide about the possibility of shifting him to some hospital in Bombay where he currently resides,” said Sharib Sabri, Toshi's younger brother. “Toshi needs prayers, please pray for his speedy recovery,” he appealed to all Toshi fans. Toshi, who hails from Rajasthan, had participated in three major TV reality shows - “Voice of India”, “Ustadon Ke Ustad” and “Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar”. He even sang the popular song “Maahi maahi” for Mahesh Bhatt's “Raaz – The Mystery Continues”.
