MONTREAL: The Montreal Canadiens ended Vancouver's six-game winning streak with a 2-0 victory over the Canucks in the NHL Tuesday. Carey Price made 35 saves for his second shutout, while Andrei Markov and Roman Hamrlik scored for Montreal. Capitals 5, Rangers 3: In New York, Washington made it five straight wins by downing New York. Washington got goals from Brooks Laich, John Erskine, and Mike Knuble. Matt Hendricks' third-period goal put the Capitals ahead for the first time, and Laich added his second into an empty net with 5 seconds left. The Capitals beat the Rangers for the fourth consecutive time. Brian Boyle had two goals and Rangers enforcer Derek Boogaard netted his first in nearly five years. New York squandered three one-goal leads. Senators 5, Thrashers 2: In Ottawa, Jason Spezza scored two goals as Ottawa beat Atlanta and extended its winning streak to four straight. Chris Neil and Jesse Winchester score their first goals of the season, and Sergei Gonchar also netted for Ottawa. Andrew Ladd and Anthony Stewart scored power-play goals for the Thrashers. Lightning 4, Maple Leafs 0: In Tampa, Toronto slumped to its sixth straight defeat, beaten by Tampa Bay. Steven Stamkos scored two goals for the Lightning and goalie Dan Ellis had his second shutout of the season. Nate Thompson and Dominic Moore also scored for the Lightning, who stopped a three-game losing skid. The Maple Leafs have been outscored 19-8 – including being shutout three times – during a six-game skid. Ducks 3, Sharks 2, OT: In San Jose, Lubomir Visnovsky scored with 33 seconds remaining in overtime to help Anaheim edge San Jose and win its fourth straight game. San Jose took a timeout with 37 seconds remaining. Saku Koivu beat Patrick Marleau on the faceoff. Visnovsky got the puck and beat Antero Niittymaki from the point to end it. Jason Blake and Corey Perry scored in regulation for the Ducks. San Jose's goals came from Torrey Mitchell and Devin Setoguchi. Flames 4, Avalanche 2: In Denver, Calgary won its first game in give by defeating Colorado. Curtis Glencross scored twice and Miikka Kiprusoff had 29 saves for the Flames, who also got goals from David Moss and Mikael Backlund. Brandon Yip and Chris Stewart scored for the Avalanche. Hurricanes 7, Oilers 1: In Raleigh, Carolina scored four times inside the first 7-1/2 minutes and routed Edmonton. Joe Corvo scored two power-play goals and Eric Staal had four assists for the Hurricanes, who forced an early change in the Edmonton net by taking a 4-0 lead against Nikolai Khabibulin on just eight shots. Patrick Dwyer scored 26 seconds in and Erik Cole added the second 49 seconds later on the power play.
