NAJRAN: A security committee in the Najran Emirate is investigating the owner of a service office who sold fake Haj permits for SR700, officials said. The committee, which received a tip, caught the man red-handed while he was selling the counterfeit permits, said Colonel Mefreh Bin Ayed Al-Enezi, director of the Passports Department in Jizan. The committee and police are looking into the case, he added. An Okaz/Saudi Gazette reporter who visited the office on Tuesday morning noticed that a crowd of people had come to get their permits and discovered that all those who paid for the service didn't receive receipts. Ali Mahdi, one of the victims, said he paid the office's owner SR700 for the service, but he was sent away empty-handed when he asked for a receipt. He said he was assured that the permit would enable him to enter Makkah and that he was asked to bring two passport photos and a copy of his ID.
