BALI, Indonesia: Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia and Alisa Kleybanova of Russia knocked out the last two seeds to leave the eight-woman Tournament of Champions with an unseeded semifinals Friday. Hantuchova beat fourth-seeded Yanina Wickmayer 6-4, 7-6 (5) to improve to 5-0 against the Belgian, and Kleybanova downed second-seeded Aravane Rezai of France 6-1, 6-2 for a fourth straight win in their matchups. Kleybanova, aiming for her third title of the year, will meet Hantuchova Saturday. They are 1-1 against each other. The other semifinal pits Ana Ivanovic against Kimiko Date Krumm of Japan. “I have nothing to lose here; I'm here as a wild card, so every win is a good one for me,” said Hantuchova, semifinalist when the event was a regular stop on the WTA. The losses by number two Rezai and fourth-seeded Wickmayer were added to similar upsets on opening day as top seed Li Na of China and number three Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova both lost. “It was a tough score but I think the match wasn't that bad,” said Rezai. “I had plenty of chances to break her and every game we fight to win.” Federer to face Roddick In Switzerland, Roger Federer and Andy Roddick will play out the latest installment of a tennis rivalry which began in Basel nine years ago when the all-star pair meet in a Saturday semifinal at the Swiss Indoors. The pair set up their latest showdown as fourth seed Roddick defeated Argentine David Nalbandian 6-4, 6-4 and Federer hammered Czech veteran Radek Stepanek, 6-3, 6-2 in exactly one hour. Federer will take over as top seed next week in Paris after the withdrawal of Rafael Nadal due to arm tendinitis. The Bercy tournament starting Monday is the final event of the regular ATP seasons prior to the Nov. 21 eight-man World Tour Finals. In the other semifinal, holder Novak Djokovic and fellow Serb Viktor Troicki lined up a pre-Davis Cup finals hit-out. Second seed Djokovic easily dispatched Holland's Robin Haase 6-2, 6-3. Troicki, engaged in a friendly rivalry with teammate Janko Tipsarevic for the number two singles spot behind Djokovic for Serbia in the December 3-5 Davis final in Belgrade against France, won a tune-up against Frenchman Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-2. Soderling mauls Monfils In Spain, second seed Robin Soderling set up a semifinal against local favorite David Ferrer when he brushed aside Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-2 to reach the last four of the Valencia Open Friday. The imposing Swedish world No. 5 did not face a single break point against the Frenchman, who won last week's tournament in Montpellier, and converted three of his four opportunities to break his opponent's serve. Fourth-seeded Ferrer saw off unseeded Italian Potito Starace in the late match. The Spaniard grabbed a crucial break in game 11 of a tight first set and broke again early in the second to come through 7-5, 6-4. Saturday's other semifinal pits Monfils's compatriot Gilles Simon against Spaniard Marcel Granollers. Simon squeaked past Nikolay Davydenko of Russia 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 and Granollers overcame a poor first set to beat Argentine Juan Monaco 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Ferrer has a good chance of clinching one of the three remaining berths at the Nov. 21-28 Tour finals, for which Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Soderling have all qualified.
