Puberty during Haj I went for Haj with my family when I was a child. On the 8th day of Dhul-Hijjah I had a wet dream. So, I performed the Ghusl (complete bathing), put on my Ihram clothes and completed my Haj. When I enquired if this Haj was sufficient to fulfill my obligation, I heard it was not. I would now like to perform Haj on behalf of my mother who died and she performed Haj only once. Will my Haj on her behalf be acceptable or do I have to perform Haj for myself first and then for her? If the child enters puberty during Haj at Arafat or before it and during Umrah before making the Tawaf, the pilgrimage (of Haj or Umrah) is sufficient to fulfill the obligation. Since the questioner had a wet dream on the 8th day and he assumed Ihram and stood at Arafat afterwards, then his Haj is sufficient to fulfill the obligation. This is because he reached Arafat after puberty. Therefore, he may perform Haj on behalf of his mother or anyone else. Perhaps, if Allah wills, he can repeat Haj for himself, his parents and whomever he wishes. Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Verdicts Fatawa Islamiyah, vol. 4, p. 44 Officers doing Haj Is it permissible for a police officer to perform Haj without the permission of his authorities? There is absolutely no Haj for the worker and the police officer (whose duties are required during the Haj) unless they have the permission of their authorities. It is not permissible for them to perform Haj without the permission of their authorities, because their time is the exclusive right of the authority. It makes no difference whether the Haj is an obligatory Haj or a voluntary Haj. This is also because the rites of Haj hinder the worker and the police officer from certain things that they are required to do during this time. Sheikh Bin Baz Fatawa Islamiyah, vol. 4, p. 59 Fearing illness If the person who has assumed Ihram fears that he will not be able to perform his rites due to illness or fear (of something preventing him), what should he do? When he assumes Ihram he should say: “If something prevents me, then my place of removing Ihram is wherever You (O Allah) stop me.” If the person fears something would prevent him from completing the Haj, like illness, then the Sunnah is that he makes this stipulation. It is confirmed from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he ordered Dhuba'ah Bint Az-Zubair Bin Abdul-Muttalib to do so when she complained to him that she was sick. Sheikh Bin Baz __
