Usman Gems prevail; Anis and Khurram excel

JEDDAH: In the third week of the 40-over Premier League Championship of the Western Province Cricket Association Zultec made it two out of two, Usman Gems thrashed Mehmood Saeed and Crown Steel defeated AOT Sonex.
Opting to bat first, AOT Sonex was bowled out for 142 in 23.3 overs as Khurram of Crown Steel took 4-14 including a stupendous hat trick in his fourth over when he reduced Sonex from 140-6 to 140-9 in just 3 balls. AOT Sonex started well with Faisal hammering 19 off just 11 balls and Nadeem making 20. Once both the openers were back in the pavilion Sonex lost wickets in a heap to slump from 51-1 to 57-4. Only Haji Jaffar made 31 and Zeeshan 36. The other bowlers who took wickets were Abu Hara (3-29) and Kamran (2-41).
Crown Steel responding to this total lost Shafiq early but Abid played a gem of innings of 70 not out in 46 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes to achieve the winning target of 146 for the loss of 4 wickets. Kashif took 2-29.
In another match, Zultec won against mighty My Care and Hala. It posted 258 all out in 37 overs, thanks to skipper Anis Malik who stroked 59 in 44 balls and along with Wajahat (56) put up 108 for the first wicket. But once they were back in the pavilion lost 3 more scalps to be 161 for 4. Then Abdullah Essa hammered 59 and Javed Iqbal 23. Mohsin took 4-52, Faheem 2-34, Shahbaz 2-43 and Arshad 2-55.
In response, My Care Hala which was 73-5 at one stage managed to make 213. Anis Malik struck with 4-51, Khalid Iqbal grabbed 3-41 and Javed 2-48. For My Care Hala, Azeem contributed 44, Mohammed 33 and Shahbaz 25.
In the other match, Usman Gems upset Mehmood Saeed by 63 runs. Batting first the winners were all out for 252 in 38.2 overs. Usman Qureshi (37) and Hashim Khan (32 ) added together 67 runs for the 8th wicket. Earlier, Akram hit 34, Shahnawaz 35 and Yunus Khan 24. Farooq, Faheem and Amjad took 2 wickets each.
Responding to this respectable total, Mehmood Saeed was all out for 189 in 34.3 overs as ace fielder Amir Sajjad accounted for 4 run-outs. Niyaz resisted with 45, Adnan made 40 and Mehfooz 24. Uzair scalped 2-27 and Zohaib got 2-37 for Gems.
In the second week of the Morning League, PISJ-ES, My Care Green, Mohtareef and ATS emerged winners while AOT My Style, Al-Ammas, Crown Blue and Nestle Milo registered victories in the Afternoon event.
Usman Gems Blue 140-6 against PISJ-ES (Sadiq 42, Mohammed Ashraf 37, Waleed took 3-17). PISJ-ES 144-6 (Tahir 56, Shoeb 47, Rauf 2-25).
Attieh Steel 104 against My Care Green (Omer 3-5, Majed 3-18, Aftab 2-20). My Care Green 106-1 (Majed 50 not out, Omer 34 not out).
Mohtareef 139 against Universal Coil (Imran 59 n.o., Laiq 2-23, Yasser 2-28). Universal 120 (Yasser 28, Manno 2-25, Amjad 2-15).
Budget 152-8 against ATS (Sufyan 41, Emaad 30, Furqan 2-24, Shafeeq 2-23 and Sajid 2-17). ATS won by 8 wickets (Furqan 50, Abdul Moeed 39, Zohaib 32, Asif 2 wickets).
Afternoon League
Al-Ammas 168-8 against Zultrack (Mushtaq 61 n.o., Nazeer Khan 37, Jemini 35). Zultrack 162-8 (Emaad 33, Moeed compiled 30, Rimazan 4-23).
Fuchs Hamrani 145 against AOT My Style (Irfan Anjum 78, Furqan 4-24, Nadeem 3-27, Qaiser 2-21). AOT My Style 149-5 (Nadeem 78, Arfan 32, Haroon 2-15, Arfan 2-41).
Pak XI 178-5 (Imran 66 n.o., Rizwan 36, Murtuza 2-21). Crown Blue 180-5 (Hasanat 43, Imran 41).
