RIYADH: Veteran Butch Mateo stole the limelight by rolling his first Perfect 300 score during the 24th Week of the FBGR-SABB Friday Bowling League here last week. Sharing limelight with Mateo were the Fathi Bowlers and Marvin Arocena who captured the Best Team and Best Bowler of the Week awards, respectively. The league is sponsored by SABB and organized by the Filipino Bowling Group of Riyadh (FBGR). Mateo splashed his deadly form in the second game to score his Perfect 300 on lanes 3 and 4. Mateo's brilliant display helped his team, Over-Hit 2 to clobber SABB-One HSBC 19-8. Mateo is the third player to roll a Perfect 300 in the ongoing SABB Friday League. Previous Jun Bantug and Ely Fanugao have thrown Perfect 300s. Mateo shot a four-game series of 867 points to top-score in Over-Hit 2, mentored by Hani Al-Nasleh. He was followed by Dennis Gabriel with 845 points. Efren Abuyo, Arnold Quindara and Hani Al-Nasleh followed with series of 797, 753 and 731, respectively. Leading scorers for SABB-One HSBC were the trio of Gene Canlas (798), Ahmed Al-Qarquosh (746) and Luis Bonguit (712). Francis Guron, Allan Ofreneo and Jun Jabonero scored 482, 393 and 344 points in the same order. The week's Best Bowler Marvin Arocena along with Fahad Al-Haza and Fathi Abdulaziz powered Fathi Bowlers to dismantle Team Strikeforce 24-5 to claim the Week's Best Team award. Arocena exploded a four-game series of 882 points. Al-Haza and Fathi followed Arocena by registering series of 843 and 804. Celis Viloria scored 798 points, while Fareed Aquino and Sammy San Juan contributed 449 and 403 series in two games. Defending champion Tecsult International demolished D'Big Blast 20-11. At the helm at Tecsult was Mike Ecalnir with 917 points. Faris and Nap Torres toppled scores of 840 and 839. Bert Lopez, Fem Baracoso and Joe Ligon added 412, 392 and 334 points. Southpaw Jess Vidal fired 829 points to lead D'Big Blast. He was followed by Larry Mondoy (749) and Sonny Alviso (736). Jun Bantug downed 585 series in three games while Mario Rivera and Rodel Canda registered 415 and 334. Noli Ritual had 178 in one game. League leader, Brooklyn Strikers rolled past Bandar Bowlers 20-12 and saw hard-hitting Danny Bautista lead Brooklyn Strikers by posting 861 points. Ronald Bautista and Ric Tugonon sealed 810 and 801 points to follow Danny while Bobby Jamora collected 759 points. Leo Mabunga was at the helm at Bandar Bowlers by tallying a four-game series of 929. Mabunga had on lines of 182, 242, 216 and 289. Ruben Rialon and Edwin Nunez delighted by scoring 797 and 757 points while Atoi Ramos executed 713 points.
