RIYADH: Saudi Arabia officially signed up to the United Nations CITES agreement Thursday which gives falcons personal passports enabling their owners to transport them between countries without difficulty. CITES - the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora – provides three-year passports bearing information on their owners allowing falconers to dispense with repeated import licenses for every journey abroad to countries signed up to the agreement. “This will be of great assistance to lovers of the sport of falconry and hunting,” said Prince Bandar Bin Saud Bin Muhammad, Secretary General of the Saudi Wildlife Commission, Thursday. “I hope they will cooperate with the Commission to make this a success and help preserve falconry and hunting in accordance with national and international laws.”
