RIYADH: Police in Riyadh have arrested five male Asians and one Saudi for robbing SR4 million from a company vehicle at gunpoint. Saeed Al-Qahtani, spokesman for Riyadh police, said Wednesday that the heist occured 10 days ago when the six used two stolen cars to block the vehicle's path as it transported company funds to the bank. “The thieves later set fire to the stolen cars.in an attempt to destroy evidence,” Al-Qahtani said. Investigations identified a site believed to house the suspects and a raid recovered SR3.7 million of the stolen money. “Officers also seized mobile telephones, guns, military uniforms, passports and stamps,” he said. “They later discovered a check for SR6,000 at the house of one of the suspects.” Al-Qahtani said that the raid and collection of materials lasted six hours, and that the detained later confessed to the charges. He also praised the officers of Riyadh Police, saying that the victims of the theft had not informed the authorities “at the appropriate time” and failed to “provide useful information”. “Even still, they managed to solve the crime,” he said.
