Othaimeen, Minister of Social Affairs, has toured the city's Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children, which will be opened by the end of the year. He, however, expressed concern about the spread of nearby coffee shops that also serve shisha. Dr. Al-Othaimeen inspected the SR65 million, 26,000-square-meter building to ensure it has been properly equipped and noticed a number of shops in the area. Abdullah Al-Tawi, director general of the Social Affairs Administration in Makkah, said Dr. Al-Othaimeen stressed the importance of coordinating with the Jeddah Mayoralty to address the matter. He said he has already approached authorities there to convey Dr. Al-Othaimeen's message and added that the mayor has promised to find a solution as soon as possible. Al-Tawi said the new center, which has been designed to accommodate 1,000 disabled boys and girls, will put an end to long waits for care. He said officials have already assigned an integrated medical staff specialized in medical rehabilitation and therapeutic rehabilitation to look after the children. The medical staff also includes social workers and psychologists.
