Haj and debt I am a man who wants to fulfill the obligation of Haj during this year. However, I borrowed some money from the bank and I repay it in monthly installments. The period of payment will not end until after six months from now. Is it obligatory upon me to perform Haj and fulfill the obligation, while knowing that I borrowed some money before I thought about performing the obligation (of Haj) and it was for another purpose? If you are able to come up with the provisions for Haj while paying off debt in its time, it is obligatory upon you to perform Haj due to Allah's statement: And Haj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka'bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses (for one's conveyance, provision and residence). (Qur'an, 3:97) If you were not able to come up with provisions for Haj while paying off the debt, you are not obligated to perform the Haj. This is based on the (above quoted) verse and what has been narrated with similar meaning in the Ahadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Sheikh Bin Baz Fatawa Islamiyah, vol. 4, p. 62 Dead in dreams Does it signify that one's death is near when one sees dead people in dreams? What should a person do to rid himself of these dreams? These dreams and others that frighten the believers are from the Shaitan, for the Shaitan is working hard in trying to bring sadness and terror into the heart of every Muslim. Allah Almighty said: Secret counsels (conspiracies) are only from Shaitan in order that he may cause grief to the believers, But he cannot harm them in the least, except as Allah permits. (Qur'an, 58:10) And that is why the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered the Muslim to spit three times to his left after he sees a bad dream. Then he may say three times: I seek refuge in Allah from the Shaitan and from the evil I saw. Then he should go back to sleep on the side opposite of that he was sleeping on, and not to inform anybody of what he saw. When you see a bad dream, go back to sleep if you please, but sleep on the opposite side you were sleeping on. If you apply what is mentioned above, and don't tell anybody about your bad dream, then you will not be harmed by it. Therefore, if someone has a dream about death, this does not mean that he is about to die; rather, it is from Shaitan who wishes to install sadness and fear in him. So, let him seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan and not inform anyone about the dream. Sheikh Bin Uthaymeen Fatawa Islamiyah, vol. 8, p. 133 __
