JEDDAH: Jeddah Police Sunday arrested a 31-year-old Pakistani suspect accused of murdering his female cousin in Al-Kandarah District on Saturday. The suspect, Nizar Baksh, whose fingerprints were found all over the murder weapon, confessed to the crime and claimed he did it because “her behavior was immoral”. Najma Mahmoud, 30, was found dead Saturday in her room, with a deep gash in her neck. However, Baksh's accusation has been rejected by the deceased's family, acquaintances and neighbors. They said she was not that type of person. The family claims that Baksh has been behaving badly. According to available information, the dead woman was an Umrah overstayer. The security men and CID teams found the bloodstained tool used to murder the woman in a corner of the house. The investigation showed that the woman probably suffered considerably after being attacked, and had moved around in the house before collapsing. Blood stains were found in various places. The alleged killer was arrested in a hideout in Al-Aziziya District. He seemed calm and smiled several times at the Okaz/Saudi Gazette photographer. During their investigation the police ruled out the involvement of a stranger, as circumstantial evidence showed the killer entered the house easily and without any resistance. Moreover, several witnesses said they saw the man near the house minutes after the crime was committed. When his hideout was raided the suspect tried to flee, witnesses said, but was pursued and caught by police. Earlier, the police had surrounded and searched three districts. Jeddah's Al-Kandarah unplanned district is known for its crime rate. It has a dense population of foreign communities and workers and has been a heavy burden for the security authorities.
