RIYADH: The authorities are conducting inspections and tests at poultry farms to ensure the birds are free from hormones, antibiotics and other drugs, according to Engineer Jaber Al-Shehri, undersecretary at the Ministry of Agriculture for Animal Resources. He said that as part of a royal order, a joint commission has been formed, including the Ministry of Agriculture, to conduct the tests. He said the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs is responsible for checking the validity of these products and their fitness for human consumption. He said the Ministry of Agriculture has a “Bio Security System” which includes several preventive measures meant to prevent the spread of any epidemic diseases. All poultry farms have to comply with the “Bio Security System”. Action is taken against violating farms.
