SAUDI ARABIA has clearly realized the importance of nano technology and its future applications, through personal encouragement of, and financial donation from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz. Specialized centers have been established, qualified specialists in this field have been recruited, and agreements with international specialized nano research centers have been made, in order to develop research in this field. The King Abdullah Nano Technology Institute is being established today in the Riyadh Valley of Research and Technology by Prince Muqrin Bin Abdul Aziz, on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The establishment of this institute means that the Kingdom will become a leader in nano technology and will benefit significantly from national human and material resources. Everybody knows that the development of this highly advanced technology is one of the most important recent scientific achievements. It also represents an unprecedented revolution that will soon open new horizons for treatment of many illnesses. Through nano technology, scientists have discovered a nano-silver colloid which can fight harmful bacteria. Silver ions destroy the cell walls of bacteria preventing the bacteria nucleus from growing. Through nanotechnology scientists will also be able to perform noninvasive medical surgery and manufacture cars and aircraft the size of a mosquito. These are just a few of the things that the Nano Institute in Riyadh will be working on to improve the lifestyle of people in the Kingdom. __
