Parry four shots clear on top
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 10 - 2010

form Briton John Parry sprinted four shots clear of the field after the Dunhill Links Championship second round Friday.
Swede Martin Erlandsson was second on 136 after a four-under 68 at Carnoustie. Briton Ross Fisher (68) and Martin Kaymer (69) of Germany, members of Europe's triumphant Ryder Cup team last week, tied for third on 137 with Spaniard Alvaro Quiros (69).
Graeme McDowell (68) of Britain, who claimed the winning point for Europe against United States, was alone in sixth spot on 138.
World No. 2 Lee Westwood, struggling with a troublesome ankle injury, was back on 142 after a 72 while European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie carded a second successive 72.
The 23-year-old Parry, who won last month's Vivendi Cup in France, shot a seven-under 65 in misty conditions on the Old Course at St Andrews to finish on 12-under 132 in the $5 million pro-am event.
Parry started his round at the 10th and made early inroads on par at the 11th and 16th. He then reeled off five birdies in a dazzling six-hole burst from the first.
Hennie Otto recorded a rare albatross when he holed his second shot from 189 yards on the par-five third hole at Kingsbarns, one of three courses being used this week. The South Africa went round in 70 for a total of 142.
Noh leads in Korea
Teenager Noh Seung-yul shot a 4-under 67 to take the second round lead at the Korea Open Friday after a second straight day of incomplete rounds.
The 19-year-old South Korean fired his second 67 at the 7,185-yard, par-71 Woo Jeong Hills Country Club and is 8 under for the tournament.
Kang Sung-hoon of South Korea is second, four shots back after 11 holes of his second round, one shot ahead of New Zealand's Danny Lee after 13 holes.
Anthony Brown of Australia is 6 back on 140, after completing a second-round 71.
First-round leader Ronald Harvey of Australia also did not complete his second round Friday because of delays in the first round caused by fog.
After a first-round 67, Harvey was 2 over after 14 holes.
Kerr leads Classic
In Alabama, Cristie Kerr shot a 7-under 65 to take a one-stroke lead over Morgan Pressel, Anna Nordqvist and Dorothy Delasin after Thursday's opening round of the Navistar LPGA Classic.
Kerr, also the LPGA Championship winner and LPGA State Farm Classic champion this year, birdied three of the last four holes in her bogey-free round on the links-style Senator course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Capitol Hill complex.
Long-hitting Brittany Lincicome was two strokes back at 67 along with Christina Kim, Vicky Hurst, Giulia Sergas.
Silvia Cavalleri was 5 under with a hole left when play was suspended because of darkness.
Top-ranked Ai Miyazato opened with a 70, and US Women's Open champion Paula Creamer had a 71 in the tour's first event since the Northwest Arkansas Championship ended Sept. 12.
