Food 2010, one of the biggest business-to-business agriculture and agro-food events in the Middle East that concluded at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center Thursday, has attracted 24,000 visitors from all over the world. Representatives and decision-makers from 300 international companies from 27 countries have participated in the expo that believed to have generated some billions of Saudi riyals worth of projects to be set up in the Saudi agriculture sector. A number of countries including America and those in Europe, Asia and Africa have sent their business delegations comprising of top businessmen and investors that held one-to-one meetings with their Saudi counterparts during the three-day event. Mohammed Al-Hussaini, Deputy General Manager, Riyadh Exhibitions Company (REC) which organized the event, said this year's gathering was a great success because of attendance of international companies' top management. “The high-level attendance and the overall success of this year's exhibitions reaffirmed the strategic importance of the trade events that REC has been organizing that help in cultivating the growth of agriculture and agro-food businesses in Saudi Arabia,” Al-Hussani said.. He said the event promoted trade activities in the Kingdom and expected to establish projects in agriculture-related industries. “We will continue to develop creative ideas and introduce innovations that will create greater value for all participants and enable Saudi Agri and Saudi Agro-Food to reach out to a much wider market segment,” he said Saudi Food-Pack 2010, the 29th International Exhibition for Food Processing and Packaging, were also held on the sidelines of Saudi Agro-2010. The event served as the Middle East's main networking platform for regional and international producers, exporters, agents and distributors in the agriculture industry.
