Jizan: A Royal project to develop the infrastructure of government security buildings across the Kingdom is in the workings to terminate the problem of security holes in rented buildings, a senior security officer said on Tuesday. Major General Salem Al-Belahid, director general of the Passports Department, told Okaz/ Saudi Gazette that King Abdullah's project to develop new security sites will end the Passport Department's problem of having to rent buildings – and create new deportation centers in Makkah and Jeddah. General Al-Belahid made the comments while visiting the Passports Department in Jizan. Rented buildings lack essential security measures needed at government security sites such as the passports departments across the country, he said. “These buildings don't suit security activities,” he added. The King's project was launched a year ago under the direct supervision of Prince Ahmad Bin Abdul Aziz, deputy minister of Interior. “Planned deportation centers, with the capacity of up to 35,000 illegal aliens, will be constructed in Makkah and Jeddah,” he said. He said the Makkah center will receive all deportees from throughout the Kingdom and the complex in Jeddah will be designed and constructed to help expedite deportation procedures. In a related development, General Al-Belahid denied rumors that some officers were suspended or held in connection with recent incidents at deportation centers in Jeddah and Jizan. He said there were no mistakes by any officials for which it is appropriate to hold them accountable. Addressing delays in sending deportees home, he said some consulates do not provide information that is needed to complete the procedures. General Al-Belahid also revealed a plan, in coordination with several parties, to address the problem of some pilgrims staying in the open after they complete their rituals.
