JEDDAH: The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs is setting up a plan to recycle 300 million tons of waste per year. A ministry official said Wednesday that the nationwide plan has been prompted by successful recycling efforts in Jeddah and that it would make use of waste accumulating at garbage dumping grounds across the country. A study on waste disposal has shown that the country produces 8.5 million tons of garbage per day, with Riyadh alone accounting for 1.2 million tons.
