The Kingdom Thursday named 34 players who will join a preparatory camp starting here October 4 for the GCC Cup and The Asian Cup. Prince Sultan Bin Fahd, President of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare (GPYW) and Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation SAFF approved the names of the players selected by the national coach Portuguese Jose Peseiro. The 20th GCC Cup will be held in Yemen later this year, while the Asian Cup is scheduled in January 2011 in Doha. The selected players are: Waleed Abdullah, Mabrouk Za'id, Hasan Shai'an and Assaf Al-Qarni (goalkeepers); Abdullah Shuhail, Mohammed Nami, Rashid Al-Raheeb, Abdullah Al-Zouri, Mansour Al-Harbi, Kamel Al-Mousa, Misha'al Al-Saeed, Osama Hawsawi, Hamad Montashiri, Hasan Khairat, Mohammed Al-Bishi (defenders); Saud Kariri, Ahmed Otaif, Manaf Abu Shugair, Ibrahim Ghalib, Mo'ataz Al-Mousa, Ahmed Abbas, Abdu Otaif, Ahmed Al-Furaidi, Tayseer Al-Jassim, Fahd Hamad, Abdul Aziz Al-Dosari, Nawaf Al-Abed and Yahiya Al-Shihri (midfielders); Sultan Al-Numari, Yasser Al-Qahtani, Naif Hazzazi, Rayyan Bilal Nasser Al-Shamrani and Mohanned Aseeri (strikers). During the camp, the Saudi team is scheduled to play Uzbekistan on Oct. 9 in a friendly match at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium. A day later, the team will fly to Istanbul where it will play two friendly matches. The selected players from Al-Shabab and Al-Hilal clubs will join the camp after they finish their AFC Champions League assignments with their respective teams. Saudi fans are already asking questions about the missing names on the list such as Ittihad skipper, Mohammed Noor and Hilal midfielder Mohammed Al-Shalhoub.
