A Saudi teacher at the Secondary Institute in the Islamic University was arrested Monday by Madina Police under suspicion of conning people out of SR300 million, authorities said. The man in his 30s was taken into custody after members of the Criminal Investigations Department stormed his office and surprised him there. The suspect told people he would invest their money in the market and collected SR300 million from them, but what he said were returns on their investments were provided via checks that bounced, security sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette. Investigations at Al-Khaldia Police Station showed that he gave a Saudi citizen in Al-Qassum Region a bad check for SR95 million, sources said. Maj. Gen. Awadh Al-Sarhani, director of Madina Police, said the suspect was arrested on charges of investing money illegally and conning his victims and he will be referred to the Bureau for Investigation and Prosecution for completion of procedures.
