The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has signed documents to hand over sites for the system to carry water from Taif to Al-Baha to the Arabian Company for Pipes Projects and the Indian Jihand Project Ltd. The project is worth SR892.5 million. Fehaid Bin Fahd Al-Shareef, Governor of SWCC, signed the contracts in his office here Sunday. The system comprises a pipeline with a diameter of 40 inches and a length of 217 km, a pumping station and the systems for carrying desalinated water from Al-Shuhada tanks in Taif. The project will provide water to Al-Sudaira and Shaqsan centers, the military city in Hudhn and Ghazayel center in Al-Baha region and the pipeline end at Al-Baha city tank. The system also includes five tanks with a total capacity of 116,500 cubic meters. The contractor has been given 852 days to complete the project. The project includes manufacturing and supply of iron pipes; the contract for that work has been awarded to the Saudi Group Five Company for Pipes at a cost of SR170 million. – Okaz/SG The ceremony was attended by Ahmad Al-Muhaiheem, deputy governor of SWCC for Technical Affairs and Projects.
