What is the ruling concering delaying the making up of Ramadan fasts until after the following Ramadan? A – Whoever broke his fast during Ramadan due to traveling, illness, and so forth, must make up those days before the next Ramadan. Between the two Ramadans our Lord has given us ample time. If one delays it beyond the next Ramadan, one must make up the missed days and feed a poor person for every day. This was the ruling of a group of the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him). One should give half a Sa'a of the staple food of the land. This is approximately one-and-a-half kilograms of dates, rice or something of that nature. If the person makes up the fasts before the next Ramadan, there is no obligation to feed others. – Sheikh Bin Baz; Islamic Fatawa Regarding Women, p. 146 __
