The Arab Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility begins in the capital Monday its second gathering. The forum is being organized by the Riyadh Social Responsibility Council in cooperation with the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO). Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the Riyadh Social Responsibility Council, said the council's work was to further the maturing of the private working sector in the Kingdom, work he described as a “crowning of the fifty-year role of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry in supporting the interests of private organization members”. “The sector, through its various activities such as this council, seeks to strengthen the partnership with state bodies and government organizations to achieve development, stability and prosperity,” Prince Sultan said. The Prince noted that social contribution had for many years been represented in individual efforts, but with the expansion of the private sector into the process of economic development the need increased for balanced cooperation between “the state, the private sector and society”. Social responsibility refers to running corporations along ethical principles, covering considerations as diverse as the environment, corruption and human rights and welfare.
