Adel Fakeih, the Minister of Labor, says he will need guidance and further consultation to help him in his new post as a servant of Allah and the country's citizens. Fakieh made the comment in an improvised speech during a ceremony attended by businessmen and government officials in Jeddah last weekend. The event was held to mark his appointment as the successor of the late Ghazi Al-Gosaibi. The ceremony was organized by Dr. Mazen Bin Sulaiman Fakeih and attended by Dr. Hani Abu Ras, Mayor of Jeddah. Also in attendance was Dr. Abdo Yamani, the former minister of culture and information, Abdul Rahman Fakeih, a businessman, officials from Jeddah's Labor Office, and heads of some of the city's government departments. “The government has assigned me to serve Jeddah's residents, visitors and workers in the Kingdom. I pray to Allah to help me in shouldering this task,” he said. The minister refused to speak about the ministry, saying to reporters that “the three-month period has not finished yet”. This refers to his stand of not talking about the ministry until after he has been able to study the needs of the ministry over the period.
